Town of Hyde Park appoints Robert G. Pollard as Recreation Director

Robert G. Pollard, Jr.

At the August 12th Hyde Park Town Board meeting, Robert G. Pollard was appointed as the Recreation Director for the Town of Hyde Park.

In June, long time Director Kathleen Davis retired from the position. The Recreation Director overseas the eight Town parks, the recreation programs, including the popular Summer Day Camp, and serves as the coordinator for the Hyde Park Trail System.

The Recreation Director works with the Hyde Park Recreation Commission and the Hyde Park Recreation Leader on the many events the Town sponsors. This includes: the Music in the Parks series; the Memorial and Independence Day Parades; and the various celebrations throughout the year (Easer Egg Hunt, Hyde Park Day, End to End Hike, Tree Lighting Ceremony, etc.).

"The Town is eager to get to work with Mr. Pollard on ways to improve our parks and programming, and look forward to community input as we move forward" said Supervisor Aileen Rohr.

The Town will be hosting their Community Day at Hackett Hill Park on September 14, 2019. Mr. Pollard will be at the park introducing himself to the community and providing opportunities for residents to give input on their needs for the parks.

Robert is a Dutchess County native born and raised in the Town of Poughkeepsie. He is a graduate of Arlington High School, Dutchess Community College and SUNY Brockport where he obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Recreation Management.

In addition to his degree in recreation management, Robert has been a manager in various technology companies, most recently at SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

"Robert's expertise and energy will be much appreciated as we initiate plans to modernize our parks and services,” said Councilman Marrine, the liaison to the Recreation Department.
