Teen Center
What It Is
Teen Center provides an opportunity for 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students to participate in recreational activities with their friends in a safe environment. The activities may include:
- Basketball
- Board games and refreshments
- DJ
- Soccer
- Volleyball
It is coordinated and run by the Hyde Park Recreation Department, with the help of volunteers from the Haviland Middle School P.T.A., parents, and HMS staff.
Registration Form
When & Where
The Teen Center is scheduled for the following 2018-2019 dates:
Oct. 12, 2018, Nov. 18, 2018, Jan. 11, 2019, and Feb.8, 2019
from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Haviland Middle School. Pick-up time is 9 p.m. Admission is free. Refreshments will be available for sale. Activities are usually held in the Boys and Girls Gym and the North and South Cafeterias.
How It Works
Haviland Middle School students must sign up and obtain a ticket during lunch periods on Wednesdays prior to the Teen Center. They need to check out posters and listen to announcements for details. If they do not have a ticket they will not be allowed to enter. Students from St Peters and Regina Coeli Schools can call the Recreation Office to obtain a ticket.
Additional Information
If a student is absent when tickets are given out, they can call the Recreation Office to reserve one. Students are expected to follow all school and teen center rules and behave in a mature manner. Those unable to do this will have their parents called to pick them up. With the growth in the number of students attending the teen centers, we are requesting that parents fill out and sign the Emergency and Waver Form.
