Adopt-A-Sailor

DUTCHESS COUNTY FLEET WEEK

Individuals and families of Dutchess County are being invited to participate in a special activity, “Adopt-A-Sailor”, during the 2012 Memorial Day weekend, May 28-29. Up to 50 crew members from the officially adopted Dutchess County Guided Missile Destroyer, the USS ROOSEVELT (DDG80), will be visiting Dutchess County as honored guests and will participate in Hyde Park’s Memorial Day Parade as well as the American Legion and National Park Service annual Memorial Day events.

The intent of this fundraising “Adopt-A-Sailor” activity is to give county residents the opportunity to informally socialize and dine with members of the crew. We believe this will be a unique and rewarding experience for everyone!

For a $25 per person donation an individual will “adopt “ a crew member of the USS ROOSEVELT and be invited to attend a picnic style dinner at the Hyde Park Rogers Point Boat Club from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on May 28, 2012. Families of 4 to 6 members may donate $100 for the dining experience.

Due to limited capacity at Rogers Point Boat Club, reservations will be accepted on a first come/ first serve basis but no later than April 1, 2012. Dinner reservation tickets will be available that evening at the reservation table.

Hyde Park Recreation’s Spring Bus Trip to NYC

“Celtic Woman” at Radio City Sunday, March 11th 2012

BELIEVE, features the all-female singing sensation performing classic Irish tunes, such as 'The Water Is Wide,' 'Green Grow the Rushes,' 'A Woman's Heart,' and 'The Parting Glass,' timeless pop anthems such as 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and 'Sailing,' and inspirational songs including 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and 'Ave Maria,' with their signature Celtic Woman twist.

The coach bus will leave Hackett Hill Park @ 9:00am. You will have approximately 3 hours of free time to shop, eat, or sightsee before the 3:00pm show at Radio City. Doors open at 2:00. Seats are on the 2nd mezzanine. Feel free to bring food and drink on the bus. Bus will return at approximately 7-7:30pm We will make a few drops off and pick up points in Manhattan. So plan your day!

Strength Endurance Training at Hackett Hill

This strength and endurance training program will focus on strengthening all the major muscle groups of the body using both weights and your own body weight. Join this class to keep your bones and muscles strong, burn calories, and gain endurance to enjoy your favorite activities for a longer period of time. Join the Town of Hyde Park Recreation Dept. and LAT Training for a fun, well-rounded exercise program!

Where:	Hackett Hill Park Program Building (2nd floor), East Market Street, Hyde Park
When:	Tuesdays, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., from Jan. 17 through Feb. 28, 2012. (No class on Feb. 14.)
Cost:	$60.00 for seven sessions. Walk-ins welcome at $10 per class, if space permits.
Instructor:	Leigh Toth, owner of LAT Training. ACSM-certified personal trainer and credentialed group exercise instructor.
Registration:	Class size is limited. Pre-registration is suggested!
Bring:	A pair of dumbbells (3-5 lbs. for women, 6-10 lbs. for men), a mat, and water.
