Uncle Sam Wants You
for Hyde Park's Trails

Become an active part of our trails family.

If you are interested in volunteering, please call Kathleen Davis (Hyde Park Recreation) at 229-8086, and we will find a way to get you involved. Here are some ideas:

Adopt a Trail

We are looking for individuals, groups and families to adopt a section of trail. Maintainers usually visit their trail section 2 or 3 times a year, keeping it passable by trimming back brush, making sure it is well marked and free of trash, and submitting a checklist of their work twice each year. We'll show you how.

Build a Trail

We are also seeking skilled and/or interested people to help build and maintain trail signs, benches and kiosks, and other trail structures, on an occasional basis. Additional "heavy" work may include helping us lay out and build new trails, as opportunities arise.

Help with trail-related programs & promotion

What if we built all these wonderful trails, and nobody came? Help us promote the use and appreciation of our trails with fun events: bird walks, interpretive historic or nature walks, 'inn to inn' or 'park to park' walks, arts projects, school groups, etc.

Do you have a special skill or interest?

There's probably a role for you. It could be writing, web design, carpentry, health, law or something we haven't thought of yet. Give us a call and let us know. Kathleen Davis: 229-8086.
