The department also changed from the block type lettering on both front doors to using the shoulder patch worn on the officer’s uniform at the time.

This Chevy Caprice was patrolling the streets of Hyde Park in 1991. The department did not change the designed of the vehicles stripping, but the car manufacturers were changing the total designs of the vehicles to be more aria-dynamic.

2006 Dodge Charger
The most recent design is now a municipal type paint code, the nose of the vehicle and the trunk section is dark blue, leaving the middle of the vehicle white. The stripping consists of a reflective strip, beginning in the front as a semi arrow, and running the length of the vehicle. The word "Hyde Park" is reduced, with the word "Police" Enlarged. The vehicles are now equipped with video, radar, and computer systems.
