This Chrysler LeBaron was patrolling the streets of Hyde Park in 1983. The police department had two marked vehicles, using the red and blue stripping along with “block” type lettering on a white patrol vehicle. In 1985, the markings and exterior lights were removed from this vehicle, and it was placed back in service as the Chiefs car. |

This Dodge Diplomat was patrolling the streets of Hyde Park in 1985. The police department had now three marked vehicles. The department changed the design to a single blue stripe running from the front of the vehicle to the rear. The department also changed from the block type lettering on both front doors to using the shoulder patch worn on the officer’s uniform at the time. |

This Chevy Caprice was patrolling the streets of Hyde Park in 1991. The department did not change the design of the vehicle striping at the time, but the Chevrolet Caprice itself had a whole new look. |

The first D.A.R.E. car was actually a decommissioned patrol car. This 1991 Chevy Caprice was once a marked patrol car, and was converted to a D.A.R.E. vehicle. The paint and striping were all done through private donations, for which the department was very appreciative. |

The most recent design is now a municipal type paint code. The nose of the vehicle and the trunk section are dark blue, leaving the middle of the vehicle white. The words "Hyde Park" are reduced, “Police" is enlarged, and the historic FDR silhouette is also seen. The vehicles are now equipped with video, radar, and laptop computer systems. |
