K-9 Unit

The Town of Hyde Park PoliceK-9 Unit was formed in May 2000 and is currently under the direction of Sgt. William Truitt. His partner is K-9 Adis, a, eight year old 105 lb. black and tan German Sheppard imported from Europe. Adis is a dual purpose dog trained in both narcotics detection and patrol. Sgt. Truitt and Adis graduated from the Kingston Police K-9 Academy in June 2001 and continue to receive monthly training in all aspects of K-9 duties.

Sgt. Truitt and Adis frequently give K-9 demonstrations to local schools, senior citizen and church groups and other community organizations. The K-9 Unit is frequently called to assist other agencies without an available K-9 Unit.
